 Koi
well known in Japan as Nishikigoi. Generally it looks like a common carper
fish. But if we take a deep look, we could see the difference.
The common carper's body is slim (thin) but Koi's body is thick and looks like torpedo. The other difference is that Koi has got beautiful colours, and if a Koi has perfect body and beautiful colours with great pattern, it's price could reach more than US$5,000. With the highest top price that has reach US$ 2,500,000 Koi also known with it's long life that could reach over 200 years old in Japan. Originally, Koi
came from China since 2500 years ago also the word "koi" is a Chinese word.
But of course at the first koi from China just looks like a common carper
fish. And since over hundreds (probably over 300) years ago the Japanese
mix-breeding the koi with other carper and finally they found the new /
modern koi that they call it as "Nishikigoi". Because Koi is so famous in Japan, there's always a national and international koi championship every year in Japan with several catagory classes based on size and color pattern. The other country that also has koi championship is Great Britain. Other famous koi came from the Israel fish breeders that well known as "Israeli Koi" famous because it's beautiful green colour.  |
